The survey we carried out yielded some not so surprising results:
- none of the respondents believes outright what they hear or read in the news; maybe and no are the only answers
- and all of them check what they read or hear
- analysing what multiple sources of say is one of the ways to check what really happened, assessing the reliability of sources is another one and questioning the possible interests behind a news item is another one
- elements which tell us whether a news item might be authentic include presence of scientific approach, logical and rational findings, absence of emotional language amongst others
